Michigan Football: This Third Quarter Stat Proves The Wolverines Are The Best At Making Adjustments

The Wolverines may be the best team in the nation at many things, but making adjustments makes them as elite as it comes.

Michigan football may be the No. 2 team in the nation behind two-time reigning national champion, Georgia Bulldogs. While the Wolverines certainly make the case as being the top team in the country, voters have made them No. 2 for the time being -- that's okay.

Michigan may be the best team in the country at a few things, or at least in the argument. But one thing that nobody else can top is what Michigan does coming out of halftime.

The Michigan Football X account posted this unreal stat on Wednesday.

Through six games, the Wolverines are outscoring their opponent, 76-0 in the third quarter.

Michigan has looked like a new team since Jim Harbaugh returned to the Wolverines' sideline after serving his three-game suspension, but even before he returned, the Wolverines absolutely dominated the second half. Michigan looks better overall with the head coach on the field, but there is no denying what the entire coaching staff has done for the Wolverines when it comes to making adjustments in the locker room.

If the opposing offense looks like they may have figured something out in the second quarter -- not anymore. Jesse Minter will reconfigure something up at halftime to give a new look and wreak havoc. Same goes with Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines' offense. If Michigan is struggling to move the ball in the first half, the Wolverines will come out firing in the third quarter.

Yeah, Michigan's schedule hasn't been strong, but the players play whoever is on the schedule. And there's no denying what this team has done in the second half all season.

Here's the third-quarter scoring differential in each game so far this year:

East Carolina: 7-0

UNLV: 14-0

Bowling Green: 17-0

Rutgers: 10-0

Nebraska: 7-0

Minnesota: 21-0

Michigan will try to continue its third-quarter dominance on Saturday when it hosts Indiana at noon ET.
