Aidan Hutchinson Propels Lions To Win, Makes NFL History

Not only did the former Michigan Wolverine have the game-winning play for Detroit this afternoon, he also made NFL history in the process.

While the National Football League has gotten to know Aidan Hutchinson pretty well over the last two years, Michigan fans were already well aware of the impact he can have on games. During his final year with the Wolverines in 2021, No. 97 set new program record for sacks in a single-season with 14. He was an absolute gamechanger on the defensive side of the ball, and his dominance earned him an invite to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony and ultimately to the NFL Draft where he was selected No. 2 overall by the Detroit Lions.

The Michigan native is fitting in really well in Detroit, and today's game against the Bears is further evidence that he's likely going to be a force in the NFL for years to come. Hutchinson entered Sunday's matchup against the Chicago Bears riding a four-game streak without a sack, and he brought an end to that streak in the most incredible way possible.

With the Bears driving and having a shot to tie or win the game, Hutchinson got to quarterback Justin Fields (a former Buckeye) for a strip-sack that ultimately led to a safety. Hutchinson's play not only propelled the Lions to a win, but it also helped him make history by becoming the first NFL player to produce 15.0 sacks and 4 interceptions through two career seasons.

The Lions are now 8-2 and No. 2 overall in the NFC Division, trailing only the Philadelphia Eagles. Next up for Detroit is a Thanksgiving matchup at home against the Green Bay Packers (4-6). That game kicks off at 12:30 pm ET on FOX.
