Michigan's Blake Corum Uses NIL Money To Give Back
Michigan running back Blake Corum continues to prove why he's highly respected both on and off the football field. On Saturday, the Corum rushed for 94 yards and 2 touchdowns on 28 carries, helping lead Michigan to a 31-24 road win over Maryland. On Sunday, Corum returned home to the mitten state and spent the afternoon delivering 600 Thanksgiving turkeys around the Ypsilanti area.
“This is my purpose, man,” Corum said, according to MLive. “Just getting my mind sometimes away from football, away from stress and anxiety. Football, it does a lot. Being able to step away and just be a part of the community and see people smile and be out here, it’s a blessing.”
This is the third year that Corum has done his "Giving Back 2 Give Thanks" event, where he uses money generated from NIL funds to give back to his community.
“This is not about me whatsoever,” Corum said “I didn’t set this all up. It took a lot of us. This event, even though it is called the third annual “BC2 Give Back 2 Give Thanks,’ so many people made this happen. It’s not about me whatsoever. It’s more so about a small community that wants to make a difference, and we all come together and make a difference. Small groups can change the bigger picture for sure, and I feel like that’s what we we’re doing.”
While Sunday was devoted to giving back, there's no doubt that Corum will quickly turn his attention to the massive matchup in Ann Arbor this weekend against No. 2 Ohio State. Both Michigan and Ohio State will enter the matchup with perfect 11-0 records for the fourth time since the year 2000.
With massive implications on the College Football Playoff, the most anticipated game of the 2023 season kicks off this Saturday at noon in the Big House. Also worth noting that the November 25th matchup with Ohio State happens to be Blake Corum's birthday, and his last game in Michigan Stadium.
