Michigan Football: Blake Corum Looks Ahead To His Final Game At The Big House
It's hard to believe that senior running back Blake Corum is just days away from playing his final game at Michigan Stadium, but that's the reality heading into this weekend's matchup against Ohio State. Although you typically don't need any extra motivation if you're on either side of this rivalry, Corum enters 'The Game' fully healthy for the first time in his Michigan career - and he's eager to take full advantage of his opportunity on Saturday.
"When I woke up this morning, I'm like, 'man, it's game week.' Finally I get to play in the game healthy," Corum said. "So I'm super excited, but I'm trying to remain calm. I'm going to make sure I'm prepared really well.
"Last two years - sophomore year, a little banged up with the ankle, last year tried but couldn't, so this game means a lot. Not only is it my first time being healthy, but it's going to be my last in the Big House, playing in front of the best fanbase with my brothers and the best coaches. So I'm super excited, to say the least."
During his sophomore season 2021, Corum carried the ball six times against the Buckeyes for 87 yards on an ankle that wasn't 100 percent. In 2022, a knee injury sustained in the previous week against Illinois prevented Corum from playing beyond the first series.
Now, in 2023, the veteran running back is completely healthy and looking to leave his mark on the greatest rivalry in all of sports. It will also be his last football game inside of Michigan Stadium, something he is very aware of.
"I think it's definitely going to be emotional, but it's the game," Corum said. "Who's not going to be emotional? I'll definitely be amped up. Going down that tunnel one last time, definitely will have a lot of emotions going on. Playing in front of 110,000, like I said, the best fanbase. Going into my last game in the Big House, I just want to say that the University of Michigan has been nothing but good to me. I'm so glad that I chose the University of Michigan, and the University of Michigan chose me. I'm just thankful, I'm excited, and hopefully we can end it with a bang."
