Michigan's Blake Corum Makes History Against Ohio State

He returned for one more year in Ann Arbor to cement his legacy at the University of Michigan, and Saturday's performance against Ohio State did just that.

Michigan running back Blake Corum knew he would be emotional heading into his final game at Michigan Stadium on Saturday. Not only was it the last time he would take the field in the Big House wearing the winged helmet, but it was also the first time he'd have the opportunity to play in the biggest rivalry in all of sports completely healthy.

"Last two years - sophomore year, a little banged up with the ankle, last year tried but couldn't, so this game means a lot. Not only is it my first time being healthy, but it's going to be my last in the Big House, playing in front of the best fanbase with my brothers and the best coaches. So I'm super excited, to say the least."

Blake Corum, Ohio State

“Playing in front of 110,000, going into my last game in the Big House, I just want to say the University of Michigan has been nothing but good to me,” Corum said. “I’m so glad I chose the University of Michigan, and the University of Michigan chose me. I’m just thankful, man, I’m excited — and hopefully we can end with a bang.”

Looking to leave a lasting impression on the folks in Ann Arbor, Corum delivered on making his final game at Michigan Stadium a memorable one. The Wolverines won their third straight against the Buckeyes by a score of 30-24, and Corum led all rushers with 88 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. His two rushing touchdowns on Saturday moved him to No. 1 all-time for single-season rushing touchdowns at 22, passing Hassan Haskins who set the single-season record at 20 back in 2021.

Corum will certainly have the opportunity have the opportunity to build on that record moving forward, as the Wolverines prepare for the Big Ten Championship game against Iowa this weekend. Not only would a win on Saturday give Michigan its third consecutive outright Big Ten Championship, it would also guarantee the Wolverines a spot within the final four of the College Football Playoff.

Here are just a few noteworthy items from Corum's performance on Saturday:

• Blake Corum's one-yard rushing score in the first quarter was his 21st of the season. That sets a new U-M single season rushing touchdown record, besting the mark previously held by Hassan Haskins (20 rushing touchdowns, 2021 season).

• Scored his second rushing touchdown of the day from 22-yards out in the third quarter. Ohio State's defense had allowed only three rushing touchdowns all season.

• Corum (53 career rushing touchdowns) stands alone in second place on the career rushing scores list; only Anthony Thomas (55) has more.

• He's is the only player in the FBS to score in each game this season.
