REPORT: Jim Harbaugh Will Travel With Team To Maryland
The Michigan Wolverines learned yesterday that they would be without head coach Jim Harbaugh for the remainder of the regular season, at least as far as his presence on the sideline is concerned. On Thursday, Harbaugh and the University of Michigan announced that they would accept the Big Ten's three-game suspension for violation of the sportsmanship policy. The suspension, which began during Penn State week, still allows for Harbaugh to coach his team during the week and participate in all team related activities outside of the game itself.
On Friday, ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reported that Harbaugh will be making the trip to Maryland with his team.
Although it's certainly disappointing that Harbaugh won't be on the sidelines when Michigan potentially notches its 1,000th program win against the Terrapins on Saturday, it's nice to know that he'll be in the vicinity and able to celebrate such an incredible milestone with his team in the state of Maryland.
Earlier this week, acting head coach Sherrone Moore said that this potential win will belong to Jim Harbaugh, even if he's not coaching on the sidelines.
"I definitely want coach (Harbaugh) to be there, to be coaching when that happens," Moore said. "And I would say it to me, and to everybody else, that would be his win. We wouldn't count it as mine. He's the head coach of this football team, and I'm just standing in there to make sure we don't mess it up. For him, it's a super honor, he's led us to so many wins, and I'd count it for him as well."
