Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was asked about the availability about junior defensive lineman Kwity Paye and senior tight end Sean McKeon. His answer was short and sweet and not overly informative.

“Not any updates yet, no,” Harbaugh said.

However, when asked about redshirt sophomore quarterback Dylan McCaffrey, Harbaugh opened up a bit more.

“Still working through the process. He’s progressing,” Harbaugh said. “He’s been fantastic, really. It’s probably the best I’ve seen with a collaboration here at Michigan medicine and doctors from home in Denver; experts all over the country. It’s been really good. Tip of the hat to the professionals.”

He wouldn’t give a doubtful or probably designation for McCaffrey but it sure sounds like he’s going to be out for a while.

He was also a little more forthcoming when talking about junior linebacker Josh Ross.

“I don’t think he’ll be back this week,” Harbaugh said. “When he’s back we’ll assess it. When somebody comes back to play you see where they’re at and where that stands with some of the other players that are out there.”

Part of the discussion will include senior linebacker Jordan Glasgow and redshirt freshman linebacker Cameron McGrone, who have both been very good in Ross’ absence.

“Jordan Glasgow was one of the leading tacklers in the game and had a really good game again this past week,” Harbaugh said. “He had multiple tackles and he was in coverage. There was one play where he was in coverage and the next play he was making a sack. He’s a very versatile player.

“Cam McGrone is also obviously an ascending player. He’s doing quite well and had another really solid, good game. Both of those linebackers are playing really well.”

Illinois is a good game to let guys rest and get as healthy as possible for the road test against Penn State. When the team rolls into Happy Valley, it needs to be all hands on deck.
