Michigan Football: A Trio Of Wolverines Are Leading The Nation On Offense

The Michigan Wolverines have three offensive players that are leading the nation in critical categories.

The Michigan Wolverines currently rank No. 53 in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 31.8 PPG through four weeks. When it comes to total offense, Michigan is near the middle of the pack in college football - ranking No. 60 overall. Although fans would certainly like to see the Wolverines move up in those rankings as the season progresses, the reality is that Jim Harbaugh and Co. are quite comfortable in securing a win without putting up gaudy statistics in the process.

While Michigan has taken a relatively modest approach to its offensive philosophy so far, a trio of Wolverines currently rank No. 1 in the nation in some critical categories.

Junior quarterback JJ McCarthy ranks No. 1 in completion percentage (.798), senior running back Blake Corum is tied for No. 1 in rushing touchdowns (8), and senior wideout Roman Wilson is tied for No. 1 in touchdown receptions (6).

After four straight wins at home to open the season, the Wolverines are now preparing for their first road test of the season at Nebraska this weekend. The Cornhuskers (2-2) feature one of the top rushing offenses in the country (No. 6 nationally), but they'll have to deal with a stingy Michigan defense that is giving up just 5.75 PPG - good for No. 1 in the nation.

No. 2 Michigan and Nebraska kick off on Saturday at 3:30 pm ET on FOX.
