Michigan Football: Two Wolverines Named To Midseason All-American Team

Michigan has been impressive through the first six weeks of the season, and it's no surprise to see these two Wolverines named to the Reese's Senior Bowl Midseason All-American Team.

The Michigan Wolverines might currently have a ranking of No. 2 in the AP Poll, but a strong argument could be made as to why they're the top team in the country. Defensively, the Wolverines lead the nation in scoring defense - allowing just 6.67 points per game. Offensively, the Wolverines a steady and methodical, but have also shown the ability to make bigtime explosive plays when needed.

Given the results from the first six weeks, it's no surprise to see DB Mike Sainristil and WR Roman Wilson named to Reese's Senior Bowl Midseason All-American Team.

Roman Wilson currently leads all U-M wideouts in receptions (22), yards (382), and touchdowns (8). In fact, his eight touchdown receptions on the season are the most of any Michigan wide receiver since Donovan Peoples-Jones hauled in eight during the 2017 season - and we're only at the midway point.

Mike Sainristil currently leads the Wolverines with two interceptions, including a 71-yard pick six against Rutgers in week four. The two-time captain has developed a phenomenal habit of always being in the right place at the right time, and he rarely makes the same mistake twice.

Both Wilson and Sainristil will certainly be intriguing options in the 2024 NFL Draft. Both possess the ability to make big-time plays at big-time moments, and both are mostly considered under-the-radar prospects.

Before the draft, however, both Wilson and Sainristil have plenty of unfinished business in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines are currently 6-0 and look to remain unbeaten this weekend in the Big House against Indiana (2-3). Outside of what could be a tricky game against Michigan State in East Lansing the following week, Michigan's 2023 conference championship hopes will likely come down to the final three weeks of the regular season. It begins with two road games at No. 6 Penn State (5-0) and Maryland (5-1), before returning home for the final game of the regular season against No. 3 Ohio State (5-0).

The Wolverines were a perfect 3-0 against all three opponents (PSU, MD, OSU) last year, and will need to continue that success this season if they hope to compete for College Football's biggest prize.
