Michigan offensive line coach Ed Warinner spoke with the media on Wednesday about U-M's rushing success against Illinois and was visibly pleased with the efforts. He as obviously glad it came together like it did against the Illini but is ready for it to take another step this weekend and beyond.

Brown's Breakdown

Michigan is averaging just over four yards per carry on the season but exploded for 6.15 per tote against Illinois and piled up nearly 300 yards on the ground against the Illini. While that's certainly a solid performance, it's not really special.

Illinois comes in at No. 107 in the country at stopping the run and routinely gives up more than 200 rushing yards per game. In fact, in the two weeks prior to the Michigan game, Illinois gave up 346 and 332 yards rushing to Nebraska and Minnesota respectively.

I'm really not trying to poo-poo what Michigan did on the ground against Illinois, but I place a lot more stock in the 40- and 120-yard performances against Wisconsin and Iowa respectively.

How do you think Michigan will run the ball against Penn State? What types of plays would you like to see? Comment below!!!
