Sherrone Moore: 'This Needs To Be The Loudest The Big House Has Ever Been'

This Saturday's matchup between No. 3 Michigan and No. 2 Ohio State will be the biggest game of Sherrone Moore's coaching career, and he's calling on Michigan fans to also make it the loudest.
In this story:

There are few places around the country that provide the type of homefield advantage that Michigan Stadium provides. The Big House, a name given to Michigan Stadium by legendary sports commentator Keith Jackson, routinely hosts over 110,000 fans each fall Saturday, and the Wolverines are extremely hard to beat in their own building. In fact, Michigan has won 21 straight inside of Michigan Stadium, and they have every intention of making it 22 on Saturday.

With head coach Jim Harbaugh serving the third game of his three-game suspension, acting head coach Sherrone Moore knows that the Wolverines will need the full force of the Big House behind them on Saturday when the Buckeyes come to town.Β

"This needs to be the loudest the Big House has ever been," wrote Moore on Wednesday.

It's hard to overstate just how massive this Saturday's rivalry matchup between Michigan and Ohio State really is. It's likely that the winner of The Game will also capture the Big Ten Championship and remain as one of the final four teams in the College Football Playoff, while the loser will be watching the conference championship game from home and is likely out of the playoff altogether.Β

This year's edition of The Game is particularly special because it's also the last time this rivalry matchup will carry so much weight. The Big Ten is doing away with divisions next season, meaning it's possible that Michigan and Ohio State could also meet in the Big Ten championship regardless of the outcome on that final week of the regular season. The College Football Playoff is also set to expand from four to twelve teams next season, meaning it's likely that both Michigan and Ohio State will be in the playoff picture regardless of what happens in The Game.Β

Although Ohio State has won 8 of the last 10 matchups, it's been the Michigan Wolverines who have put together two consecutive dominant wins over the last two seasons - winning both games by a combined score of 87-50.Β

The Game kicks off this Saturday in Ann Arbor at noon on FOX.
