Michigan State's Season Rides On Upsetting No. 2 Michigan: 'Nothing Else Matters Before Or After This Game'

The Spartans are completely overmatched on paper, but they believe they've got what it takes to pull off a massive upset against No. 2 Michigan on Saturday.

As the Wolverines and Spartans prepare for Saturday night's primetime matchup in East Lansing, saying that Michigan is the heavy favorite would be a massive understatement. The Wolverines enter the contest with a perfect 7-0 record and ranked No. 2 in the nation. The Spartans, on the other hand, are 2-4 on the season and currently in last place in the Big Ten East division.

Whether offensively or defensively, the Wolverines hold a significant advantage over the Spartans in nearly every statistical category. Put simply, this one could get ugly pretty quickly.

The Spartans are fully aware that the season is on the verge of going off the rails. They're also aware that a win against Michigan, regardless of what the overall record looks like at the end of the season, can cure a lot.

Meeting with the media this week, Michigan State wide receiver Tre Mosley made it clear that a win against Michigan would change everything.

"This game, leading up to it, nothing else matters before or after this game," Mosely said. "Literally can be 0-29, if you win this game, that can make your season. And you can break their season, especially with the success they're having this year, so we just want to go out there and win."

MSU cornerback Dillon Tatum knows that the odds are heavily stacked against them, but he believes the Spartans will get the job done on Saturday night.

"We're going to to out there and ball, I believe," Tatum said. "I I believe we're going to win this football game. Y'all can doubt us all you want, but we're going to come out there and give them our best shot. Really, this is the game...the game, for real."

No. 2 Michigan and Michigan State kickoff in East Lansing this Saturday at 7:30 pm ET on NBC.
