Big Ten Football: Predicting Every Final Score In Week 13

Here's what to look for in Big Ten action this weekend.
In this story:

It's the final regular week in college football -- how the time flew by.

All 14 teams will be suiting up for the final time -- save for a couple of teams. We will get two games on Friday including the Iowa and Nebraska rivalry.

On Saturday, the biggest game of the season will take place between undefeated Ohio State and undefeated Michigan Wolverines. The winner of The Game will head to Indianapolis to play Iowa in the Big Ten Championship game, and the loser will need a ton of help in order to sneak into the College Football Playoff.

Here's what I think will happen in all seven Big Ten games this weekend.

Trent's SU win/loss record through 12 weeks: 82-16

Iowa vs. Nebraska -- Fri. Noon ET

Nebraska is currently favored in this game at home and it needs a final win to earn bowl eligibility, but the Huskers are on a three-game losing streak. Iowa continues to win even with one of the worst offenses in all of football, but hey, it's working for the Hawkeyes. Iowa doesn't have a ton to play for here like Nebraska -- Iowa has already clinched the West. But 10 wins sounds much better than nine and Iowa's defense is legit.

Iowa 17, Nebraska 13

Penn State vs. Michigan State -- Fri. 7:30 p.m. ET

NBC sure got a lackluster final game to play in the Big Ten. Penn State, even with a banged-up Drew Allar, should be able to move the ball at will against Michigan State. And the Spartans are going to have a really tough time moving the ball on the Nittany Lions defense.

Penn State 34, Michigan State 10

Ohio State vs. Michigan -- Sat. Noon ET

Everyone knows what's at stake on Saturday. The winner heads to Indy for a chance at a Big Ten title and a seat in the CFP. The loser will be sitting on its seat during conference championship weekend needing some major help. To me, this game comes down to two areas: quarterback play and red zone play. J.J. McCarthy is the better QB, but he's been banged up and Kyle McCord has Marvin Harrison. However, if McCarthy is remotely close to healthy, J.J. should win that battle.

Michigan is the best red zone defense that only allowed six touchdowns inside the 20 all season. The Buckeyes are so-so offensively in the red zone, but have a fantastic red zone defense as well. Which team will become more clever inside the 20?

I can honestly see either team winning, but this game is in Ann Arbor and these veterans know what's at stake. Give me Michigan in a tight one.

Michigan 24, Ohio State 20

Indiana vs. Purdue -- Noon ET

It's the battle of the two worst teams in the Big Ten. Both teams are ranked dead last in their respective divisions, but it's a rivalry game, so that adds some intrigue. Both offenses can get hot, and both defenses can give up points. Indiana has been more competitive than Purdue recently, but I like the Boilermakers to win at home.

Purdue 27, Indiana 24

Northwestern vs. Illinois -- 3:30 p.m. ET

Northwestern has won the last two games to possibly go bowling and Illinois needs to win this one to become eligible. First off, what a job David Braun has done for the Wildcats. People, myself included, thought Northwestern would win two or three games this season but Braun made this team more competitive. While I give Braun all the credit in the world, I think Illinois will get up for this game on senior day. I like the Illini in a close one.

Illinois 21, Northwestern 17

Wisconsin vs. Minnesota -- 3:30 p.m. ET

Minnesota is yet another Big Ten West team that needs to win one more to become bowl eligible. And sadly, I can see it happening because nobody knows what they are getting from Wisconsin. One moment the Badgers look good and the next it looks like Luke Fickell is in over his head. I feel like this is a toss-up, but I'll take Wisconsin.

Wisconsin 28, Minnesota 21

Maryland vs. Rutgers -- 3:30 p.m. ET

It seems like Rutgers are in a funk losing three games in a row, but the Scarlet Knights lost to Ohio State, Iowa, and Penn State, respectively. I think Rutgers is a solid team and it can beat the low-to-mid teams. Maryland is one of those middling teams that can get hot. It all depends if Taulia Tagovailoa plays well or throws interceptions.

Rutgers 20, Maryland 17
