The sky is falling when it comes to the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class.

Not really, but concerns are starting to hit people after the Wolverines officially lost two more four-star players in their '24 class. On Friday night, Hayes Fawcett reported former Michigan commits Jacob and Jerod Smith flipped their commitments to Kentucky.

Jacob Smith, a four-star Edge, is ranked the 239th-best prospect in the cycle, according to the Composite. He is the third-ranked prospect in the state of Kentucky.

His twin brother, Jerod, is an interior defensive lineman. He is the 224th-ranked prospect in the country and the second-ranked prospect in the state of Kentucky.

Michigan is now ranked 12th in the 2024 class rankings and the Wolverines have 25 commitments.

The Smith twins aren't the first ones to de-commit from the Wolverines. Michigan also lost four-star Edge rusher Elias Rudolph who committed to Miami after he chose the Wolverines. Michigan also recently lost three-star 2025 linebacker Mantrez Walker who committed back in February.
