Stud Wide Receiver Puts Michigan In Top Group

Michigan continues to grab the attention of top-flight recruits in the 2024 class.

Michigan has been elite on the field over the last two seasons and it's resulting in high-level success on the recruiting trail, especially in the 2024 class. And even though Michigan doesn't throw the ball as much as some other programs, big time wide receivers are giving the Wolverines a look, including Charlotte (N.C.) Charlotte Christian four-star Micah Gilbert, who recently put the Wolverines in his top group.

The 6-3, 203-pounder, will now consider Michigan along with South Carolina, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Duke and Pittsburgh. When looking at that list, one team does seem to stand taller than the others.

That's obviously a good thing for Michigan as they'll have plenty to sell to Gilbert compared to everyone else on that list. No other program in Gilbert's top seven can boast about huge wins over a program like Ohio State, back-to-back conference titles and back-to-back appearances in the College Football Playoff. Not even Notre Dame, which is the only other program from that group in the same conversation as Michigan when it comes to football.

Another thing likely working in Michigan's favor at this point, is the presence of five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis in the class. You can guarantee that Gilbert and Davis are well aware of each other. The two prep stars play at high schools just 1.7 miles away from each other in Charlotte. Davis is already diligently working on his two high school teammate wide receivers with a Michigan offer — Channing Goodwin and Jordan Shipp — why not throw another North Carolinian in the mix with Gilbert.
