Michigan Snags Running Back From Powerhouse Program
When you're hot, you're hot! Jim Harbaugh and his staff must feel like they're on fire. It seems like every other day a prospect is committing to Michigan, putting the Wolverines in a top group or swinging by campus to check things out. Today, it's another commitment in the form of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman running back Micah Kaapana.
The 5-11, 195-pounder was in Ann Arbor last weekend for an official visit and how now picked Michigan over several other schools including Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Utah, BYU and Washington State among others. When it comes to his social profile, Kaapana is pretty reserved and quite silent, so this one kind of snuck up on folks. His choice isn't surprising, but he wasn't very outspoken throughout his recruitment.
On tape, Kaapana is very impressive. He's obviously not the biggest guy in the world but he's extremely sudden, has great vision and appears to have some serious long speed. Maybe it's the No. 22, but I see some Karan Higdon in Kaapana and he's similar to current Michigan running back Blake Corum in a lot of ways too. There's also some Austin Ekeler in there if you like NFL comps. His offer list isn't going to blow anyone away but there are some solid programs on there and Michigan beating them when considering the geographical matchups is impressive.
