Nearly 3,500 hundred fans headed down to Comerica Park here in Detroit to watch the second annual, “Clash at Comerica,” between
the Michigan State Spartans (visitors) and the Central Michigan Chippewas, the home team. The Spartans entered this
game having won last year and on a roll this season.

Showing the fortune that most visiting teams have playing baseball at Comerica this year the Spartans survived having an amazing
five players picked off of the base paths and still overcame for the 5-2 win and the sweep over the Chippewas for the season.

MSU head coach Jake Boss was obviously pleased with the big win and said afterward, “It's a thrill for us. It's tough to beat a team three times.” Justin Scanlon was the star of the night for the Spartans. He went three for three an added two walks show great discipline at the plate.

Scanlon also served on the most dynamic play of the game, and it happened on defense. With a runner on first and two
outs, the Chips hit a double down the left field line. Spartan LF Jordan Keur made a great play on the ball, relaying it to Scanlon who made a great throw in transition and the Spartans nailed the Chippewa base runner at the plate.

With the win on Tuesday the Spartans move their season record to a very solid 34-17.
