Latest NBA Mock Draft Has One Spartan Picked Higher in the First Round than Denzel Valentine, But Still Nets Tom Izzo 2 First Rounders
Denzel Valentine is clearly in the discussion for national player of the year in college basketball. There is no doubt that he will play in the NBA after the season and will be a great pro. What might shock some people is that one of his teammates who isn't even a starter is getting even more attention from the NBA angle. That player you ask? Deyonta Davis.
While ESPN draft expert Chad Ford has Valentine listed as the 25th pick, he projects Deyonta Davis (Who as of yet as not declared he is leaving) at #17. If Davis would declare early for this years draft it could give the Spartans two first round draft picks in the same draft. The last time MSU did that was in the 2014 draft.
Adreian Payne & Gary Harris were selected in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft. Payne was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 15th pick, while Harris was picked at No. 19 by the Chicago Bulls, who traded him to the Denver Nuggets.
