Michigan State G Steven Izzo Talks Being a Spartan & More!
Breslin Student Events Center
East Lansing, MI
The #1 team in America happens to reside in the Big Ten. They also happen to reside in the state of Michigan. No, not in Ypsilanti, Mt. Pleasant, Kalamazoo or Ann Arbor. Instead, they’re right here in East Lansing and of course, we are talking about the Michigan State Spartans and their Hall of Fame head coach Tom Izzo.
The Spartans kick off the season on October 9, in an exhibition contest against Albion and the season officially kicks off November 5 at 9:30 PM in New York. The Spartans will be taking on the Kentucky Wildcats in the Champions Classic. No doubt that the nation’s attention is already looking at the critical first game of the year heavyweight fight.
Other than Tom Izzo and his lovely wife Lupe, perhaps no one in the Spartan Nation has sacrificed more for Spartan basketball than Steven and his sister Rocky. Two incredibly well balanced young people.
Steven sacrificed many events and activities with his dad who was always on the road recruiting and coaching. But that didn't hurt Steven, who to his credit and the credit of his father, spent a ton of time at the Breslin. Thanks to his amazing mom Lupe, (The glue of the Izzo family) and his father, Izzo never lost perspective and now gets the thrill of his life, in that he gets to play for his dad and with the teammates who have embraced him and love him.
