Michigan State is locked in a battle with USC in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament, with the two teams squared at 34-34 as they enter the locker rooms at halftime.

The Spartans led by as many as 11 points, which was punctuated with an impressive transition slam dunk by sophomore guard Jaden Akins off a nice assist from junior A.J. Hoggard.

Akins has showcased his athleticism throughout the season with a number of roof-raising slams in transition this season, and he won't soon forget doing that in the 'Big Dance'.

Michigan State has work to do in the second half, however, as the Spartans saw their double-digit lead evaporate in the final nine minutes of the half when the Trojans closed with a 21-10 run.

With 20 minutes left in a tie game, Michigan State's season is on the line in a nail-biter in Columbus, Ohio.
