Are Tom Izzo, Michigan State closing in on another four-star 2024 commitment?
With the commitment of four-star shooting guard Kur Teng on April 3, Michigan State men's basketball got its 2024 recruiting class off to a great start.
The Spartans might not have to wait much longer to add another four-star in the 2024 cycle.
Cleveland (Ohio) Lutheran East four-star center Jesse McCulloch will announce his commitment on April 20th, and choose from a 'Final Four' list that includes Michigan State, Alabama, Virginia Tech and Xavier.
McCulloch is considered a four-star prospect in three out of the four major recruiting services (247Sports, On3, ESPN), with Rivals.com the only service who lists him as a three-star.
247Sports lists him as the No. 88 overall prospect in the country, the No. 1 player from the state of Ohio and the No. 15 center prospect for the 2024 class. The Spartans have three 'crystal ball' predictions in their favor for the 6-foot-9, 190-pounder.
Spartan Tailgate's Corey Robinson and Justin Thind, who are affiliated with 247Sports, each put in crystal ball predictions for MSU to land McCulloch. Additionally, VT Scoop's Chris Arvin also sees the Spartans landing the Ohio native when all is said and done.
Despite having only one commitment in the 2024 cycle, Michigan State's class is considered No. 8 in the country by 247Sports. That's because Teng is one of the best prospects in the country, ranked No. 37 overall and the No. 8 shooting guard in his class. Adding McCulloch alongside Teng would help the Spartans add depth to both their frontcourt and backcourt in the years to come.
After taking four commitments in the 2023 cycle — five-star forward Xavier Booker, five-star point guard Jeremy Fears and four-star forwards Coen Carr and Gehrig Normand — it is unclear how many players Tom Izzo and Co. will take in the 2024 class.
