MSU's Tyson Walker Named To Naismith Award Midseason Team

Another prestigious award is keeping its eyes on the Spartans' leading-scorer...

Michigan State's Tyson Walker is not only one of the best shooting guards in all of college basketball, he's alongside the best players in the sport all together.

On Thursday, the Naismith Men's College Player of the Year award listed Walker alongside 29 others on its midseason team. This comes two weeks after the fifth-year senior was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Jerry West Award, given annually to the top shooting guard in college basketball.

Walker has scored in double figures in 23 of the 24 games in which he's appeared this season. The fifth-year senior had his streak of 35 consecutive games scoring 10 or more points broken last night against Penn State, when he scored six in the Spartans' 80-72 victory.

Despite being bottled up a bit by the Nittany Lions, Walker remains Michigan State's leading scorer at 18.4 points per game, shooting a career-best 46.3% from the field. Walker also leads the Spartans with 1.9 steals per game, adding 2.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds per contest.
