Michigan State and their Hall of Fame Head Coach Tom Izzo are sitting at 24-6 (15-4) this season. They are experiencing an improbable year. Laced with injuries including the loss of two future Pro players for expansive parts of the season.
By all account, they shouldn't even be playing for the conference title this late in the year. The Wolverines are always in contention since they hired John Beilein away from West Virginia to lead there program.
Barring any setbacks in his recovery, Spartan Nation has reported for the last week that Nick Ward will return, and Kyle Ahrens is probable and expected to play as well. This will be a whiteout game for the Spartan Nation as they come from far and wide to fill the Breslin Center for what is sure to be one of the greatest games in the history of this storied rivalry.
All eyes will be on one of the top players in the nation and the young man who's expected to win Big Ten player of the year, Cassius Winston. Winston is the Spartan version of a Swiss army knife. There's very little on the basketball court that he can't do, and he's led his Spartans with a Vim this season.
Spartan Nation was at practice and caught up with several of the Spartans including head coach Tom Izzo for these incredible interviews. So get ready, start your popcorn now for what's sure to be a great battle at 8 p.m. eastern time on Saturday at the Breslin Center. The game can be seen on ESPN.
