After receiving an offer from #5 Michigan State last month, Paw Paw (MI) 3-star offensive lineman Karsen Barnhart took his second unofficial to East Lansing in the last three months over the weekend and was on hand for Michigan State’s win over Purdue on the hardwood on Saturday.

Following his visit to Michigan State, Barnhart spoke with Spartan Nation and said that he obviously enjoyed the Spartans’ thrilling win and was impressed with the Michigan State fans throughout the game, especially after Miles Bridges’ game-winning 3-pointer.

“That was crazy, he swished that thing and when it went in, the place went wild,” he said. “The roof went off that place.”

Barnhart, a 6-foot-4, 282-pound lineman, who has also played as a tight end at the high school level, said he had the opportunity to spend time with Spartans’ offensive line coach Mark Staten during the game and enjoyed having the chance to talk with him.

“It was great,” he said. “During the game, we were going on with each other, so it was a great time.”

Barnhart told Spartan Nation last month that he has been told by Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio that the Spartans could see him play a number of different positions along the offensive line, including tight end.

Outside of taking in the basketball game over the weekend, Barnhart said that he also had the opportunity to see some of Michigan State’s football facilities, including the stadium and locker room and said that overall, he had a great time in East Lansing.

“We got to go see the stadium and the locker room area,” he said. “I just had a great day overall.”

Barnhart currently holds 11 offers so far, including offers from Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Iowa State, Kentucky, Indiana as well as Iowa and Michigan, who both offered the 3-star recruit back at the end of January.

When it comes to his offer from Michigan, Barnhart admitted that even he was a little surprised considering it came on his first visit to Ann Arbor but said that he’s excited to hold an offer from the Wolverines.

“The Michigan offer was a little bit of a shock to me,” Barnhart admitted. “But at the same time, not really, but it’s good offer to have to me.”

“I didn’t see it coming right away,” he added. “It was my first time being up on campus in Ann Arbor.”

With Barnhart emerging as one of the most coveted recruits in the state of Michigan, he said his success is a blend of his outstanding work ethic, as well as some natural abilities that he’s been able to continue working on throughout his high school career.

“I’d say some of it is natural, but part of it is something that I’ve worked at too,” he said. “I didn’t let God-given talent just stay there, I worked hard with what God gave me too.”
