Westerville (OH) North2019 defensive lineman Jeremiah Burton has been on #5 Michigan State’s radar for some time and with the offseason beginning to ramp up, the 6-foot-2, 285 pound 3-star recruit is planning a couple of return visits in the near future.

Burton, who intends on camping at Michigan State this summer and also plans on coming up for a visit this spring, told Spartan Nation that he remains high on the Spartans and has heard plenty of good things about the program from his friend and current Michigan State safety Dominique Long.

“I think they’re a great program, one of the top schools in the Big Ten and probably in the nation, I just love the intensity that they have there,” he said. “I have a friend that goes there, Dominique Long and he said he fell in love with it when he saw what they were about and I see why.”

Burton currently holds offers from Ball State, Buffalo, Kent State, Eastern Michigan, Miami (OH) and Ohio and has also received interest from several other high-level Division 1 programs. Throughout Burton’s recruitment by Michigan State, the 3-star defensive lineman has developed a strong relationship with Spartans’ defensive tackles coach Ron Burton and has enjoyed getting to learn from him as well.

“I love him,” he said. “I like how he coaches, he’s just a very high, up-tempo kind of dude and when I camped with him last year, it was a great experience learning under his wing a little bit.”

While Burton doesn’t hold an offer from Michigan State at the moment, the 6-foot-2, 2285-poundstandout said that an offer would be a big deal for him because of the fact it would be from a Big Ten School and that he could continue learning under Burton’s tutelage.

“It would mean a lot, just because it’s the Big Ten, I would get to play with some of the top guys in the country,” he said. “Being under coach Burton’s wing would be great, just being able to learn some of the stuff that he’s seen and been through, so it would be great.”

Another factor that could play into Burton’s decision down the road would be the opportunity to play with Long, who he played against in high school, but could play with his friend at the next level.

“I would love to play with Dom just because he plays with such a high motor and he’s such a great athlete, it’s crazy,” he said. “Unfortunately, I got to see what he did against us, so he’s somebody I could see playing with in the future.”

In his time on campus at Michigan State, Burton told Spartan Nation that he was impressed with the Michigan State football facilities and also added that he had the opportunity to talk with Michigan State strength and conditioning coach Ken Mannie as well.

“I love their facilities,” he said. “Their indoor facilities are great, their outdoor facilities are great, their weight room facility is nice, it’s very, very nice.”
