Â
Strengths: Norman is athletic and has every physical tool necessary to not only play, but to be dominant. A great example is against Notre Dame in the first quarter with 1:18 on the clock. The Irish had a first and ten at their own 46. On a swing pass, Norman made a tremendous read and then followed it up with a textbook beautiful open field tackle.
Â
That play was easy for him and it is one of the most difficult for young LBs to make. It showed early he has all the ability and promise to be great.
Â
Weakness: At the Alamo Bowl with 2:05 on the clock in the first quarter the Red Raiders had a first and ten at the MSU 49. It was another swing pass to the RB and once again Norman made a great break. This time he went wide and the OL was able to chip block him and he was taken out of the play.
Â
Norman is blessed with so much God-given natural talent that especially when in high school he didn’t have to play as disciplined to technique. At this level, he has to. He has struggled in two areas. One, sometimes like the above-mentioned play not playing the technique and secondly, at times he presses too hard. There were immense expectations on this young man and still are. There is an adjustment to this level and he went through it.
Â
Final Analysis: I expect big things from Chris. He is a blessed football player, but he is also a top-notch young man. Quick to smile and well respected by the entire team, Norman’s 2010 season should meet the expectations of the fans and the staff.
