Strengths: Foreman is the single most talented player on the team when you look at God-given gifts and using them to the most. He is a man among boys. He is strong, smart, fast, and has a mastery of technique.
Â
Let’s look at the Alamo Bowl in the first quarter with MSU having a first and ten at the Texas Tech 46. With 3:58 on the clock, Foreman pulled, got three yards upfield and destroyed the LB for a 46 yard Edwin Baker TD. Without Foreman’s destructive block that play would not have happened. On that one play he showed speed, footwork, devastating technique and blunt force trauma ability. Foreman is the complete player and the best offensive guard in the nation.
Â
Weakness: Foreman has to do so much that at times he literally does too much. Last season there were times with Rocco Cironi injured that he tried to do his own job and help along the line as much as possible. Let’s look at what weakness can come from that. Again in the Alamo Bowl in the second quarter, MSU had a second and ten at the Texas Tech 35. He pulled right and when he got to the hole no one was there. He raised his pads. When he saw and engaged a LB, the LB was able to make the tackle because Foreman had his pads high. Not the end of the world.
Â
Final Analysis: Enjoy Joel Foreman Spartan Nation. When the 2011 season is over, he very well could be one of the best offensive linemen to ever play at MSU. I could watch him play for hours. He is a tactician and what makes him even better…He is an equally incredible person.
