As Mark Dantonio methodically leads his team through summer camp he continues to accumulate future Spartan talent. Spartan Nation has called Dantonio’s OL Coach Dan Roushar his secret weapon, and once again he struck gold for his boss.

Roushar secured the commitment of center Jack Allen from Hinsdale Central High School in Illinois. This talented center has great feet and amazing hand/eye coordination that is desperately needed at this level.

The Spartans needed a center for this class and not only got one, but a very talented one. With multiple offers including such OL powers in the Big Ten Wisconsin and Iowa, Allen made the call to wear the green and white. “It was pretty exciting,” Allen told Spartan Nation recently. “I was nervous, but I was really excited when I made that call to Coach Roushar.”

The fact that his college coach was his recruiter was a real big deal to the 6’2” 270# youngster. “We are really building a great relationship and that was important. I think it was a real big deal that I wasn’t being recruited by a MSU running back coach, I was being recruited by the guy that would be my position coach, and he is awesome.”

Don’t be fooled by Allen’s big frame. He isn’t slow. He runs a 4.8 forty-yard dash, which is good for an offensive lineman and carries a 4.3 GPA on a 5.0 system. With a 315 bench press, he has all of the tools and has yet to set foot in his high school for his senior year yet.

You can hear a lot more from Allen on Monday’s Spartan Nation Radio, as he will join us as a guest. Until then we congratulate Allen and welcome him to the Spartan Nation.
