Michigan State Defensive Lineman Dismissed From Team

Michigan State defensive lineman finds himself in hot water again.

Michigan State defensive lineman Itayvion Brown is facing a pair of gun charges and has been dismissed from the Spartans’ football team.

Brown has been charged with a felony for carrying a concealed weapon and a misdemeanor for gun possession while under the influence.

“Itayvion Brown was dismissed from the Michigan State football team last month and did not participate in spring practice,” a program spokesman said in a written statement. “Previously, he had been indefinitely suspended from team activities beginning in late February.”

Michigan State began spring practice on March 15, and will conclude this Saturday with the “Spartan Football Kickoff” event, which is open to the public.

This is the second time that Brown has been criminally charged in the past five months. He was one of seven Michigan State football players charged with assault for their roles in the Michigan Stadium tunnel incident back on Oct. 29. Each of those seven players were suspended for the remaining four games of the 2022 season.

Brown is a former four-star recruit out of St. Louis (Mo.) Lutheran North. He spent one season with Minnesota after committing to P.J. Fleck and the Golden Gophers out of high school. He transferred to Michigan State ahead of the 2021 season. Brown appeared in 12 games over the last two seasons with the Spartans and recorded five tackles.
