Michigan State Football's season-opener vs. Central Michigan rescheduled

Michigan State Football will continue what has turned into an annual tradition when it opens its season on Friday night against Central Michigan.

The Big Ten Conference announced on Monday that MSU's season-opener against Central Michigan, originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 2, up one day to Friday, Sept. 1 at Spartan Stadium.

This marks the fifth consecutive non-COVID season that the Spartans will open their season on a Friday night, and the 11th time out of the last 13 years. Michigan State is 10-0 in its previous Friday night season-openers since 2011.

The Spartans' matchup against Central Michigan will mark the third consecutive Friday night opener for fourth year head coach Mel Tucker. Last season, Michigan State defeated Western Michigan, 35-13, at Spartan Stadium. In 2021, the Spartans went on the road and beat Northwestern, 38-21, in Evanston, Ill.

The kickoff time and television network for Michigan State's season-opener against the Chippewas has not yet been determined.
