Injury Report: Michigan State lists 10 players 'Out' vs. Rutgers

The Spartans go into Piscataway a little short-handed...

Michigan State looks to end a three-game losing streak today against Rutgers, but they will do so with 10 players sidelined due to injury.

For the third consecutive game, starting cornerback Charles Brantley remains 'Out' for the Spartans, with true freshman Chance Rucker expected to start in his place. Brantley was injured in Week 3's matchup against Washington, and Rucker has performed well in his place against Maryland and Iowa.

Running back Jaren Mangham, who has not played all season, remains 'Out' today, as does true freshman speedster Jaelon Barbarin, who has been listed as 'Out' for the rest of the season. Offensive lineman Keyshawn Blackstock is 'Out' for the second consecutive week, while tight end Jack Nickel is also listed as 'Out'.

Moving back to the defensive side of the ball, safety Malcolm Jones, cornerback Marqui Lowery, defensive tackles Jarrett Jackson and Dre Butler and edge rusher Bai Jobe are each listed as 'Out' for today's game.

As for positive news, offensive lineman Geno VanDeMark and safety Khalil Majeed did not appear on the 'availability report' after both guys have missed multiple games this season, indicating they could play today for MSU. Previous Michigan State players who have been listed 'Out' for the season include linebacker Jacoby Windmon, safety Armorion Smith defensive tackle Alex VanSumeren and offensive linemen Stanton Ramil and Gavin Broscious.
