Injury Report: 3 Defensive Starters 'Out' for Michigan State vs. Maryland

The Spartans are beat up bad heading into a Week 4 matchup against the Terrapins...

Michigan State has multiple defensive starters listed as 'Out' on their mandatory Big Ten availability report ahead of today's game against Maryland.

Starting cornerback Charles Brantley, starting linebacker Jacoby Windmon and starting defensive end Khris Bogle will not play against the Terrapins. Brantley was injured in the second quarter last week against Washington and never returned. Windmon played last week, but has been battling an upper body injury over the last couple weeks.

We aren't sure what Bogle's injury is, but he was seen on a medical cart heading into Spartan Stadium, so it's not believed that Bogle is voluntarily sitting out.

Unfortunately, there is more bad news for Michigan State on the offensive side of the ball. Both backup tailbacks — Jalen Berger and Jaren Mangham — are also listed as 'Out', and starting right guard Geno VanDeMark is listed as 'Questionable'.

Other players listed as 'Out' in this game are defensive backs Marqui Lowry and Semar Melvin, linebackers Ma'a Gaoteote and Quavion Carter, defensive tackle Dre Butler, offensive lineman Cole Dellinger, tight end Tyneil Hopper and running back Joseph Martinez. Hopper and Martinez are listed as out for the season.

In addition to VanDeMark, defensive back Caleb Coley, defensive tackle Jarrett Jackson and safety Harold Joiner III are all listed as 'Questionable'. Previous Michigan State players who have been listed out for the season include defensive tackle Alex VanSumeren and offensive linemen Stanton Ramil and Gavin Broscious.
