REPORT: Keon Coleman Sets First Visit Since Entering Transfer Portal
The dust is starting to settle on the transfer saga that has rocked Michigan State football over the past five days.
After three Spartan starters from the 2022 season entered the transfer portal on April 30th, one has announced a return to the Green and White, while another has confirmed he will not be back in East Lansing this fall.
Cornerback Charles Brantley withdrew his name from the portal just 48 hours after his entry, while quarterback Payton Thorne announced via social media that his "days at Michigan State have come to a close." The last domino we're waiting on is star wide receiver Keon Coleman.
While Coleman has not officially shut down a return to Michigan State the way Thorne has, the junior wide receiver is in the process of exploring other options. That includes taking visits to other schools, and 247Sports has reported that Coleman will take the first of such visits this coming weekend.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder will reportedly head to Tallahassee on Friday for a three-day visit at Florida State. The Seminoles, who are coming off a 10-3 record in 2022 and are entering Year 4 under head coach Mike Norvell, are one of several potential suitors for Coleman. Other interested parties include Oklahoma, LSU and North Carolina, among others.
Despite entering the transfer portal on April 30th, is has been reported that Coleman has remained in contact with Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker over the last several days, including a sit-down meeting with the Spartans' head man on Monday. After playing sparingly as a true freshman in 2021, Coleman had a breakout sophomore campaign last season, leading the Spartans with 58 receptions for 798 yards and seven touchdowns.
