The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is ranked No. 141 overall in the 2024 recruiting class, and is considered the No. 11 linebacker and No. 16 player out of the state of California. Williams has garnered more than 30 scholarship offers during his recruitment.

Michigan State was one of the first Power 5 schools to offer Williams a scholarship, back on Jan. 25, 2022.

However, after Southern California joined the fray on Jan. 30, the hometown Trojans quickly became the team to beat. Williams committed to USC on April 11, 2022 but the verbal pledge didn't stick. The Long Beach native decommitted from the Trojans and re-opened his recruitment in October of last year.

Earlier this month, Williams released a 'Top 7' that included Michigan, Texas, UCLA, Alabama, Miami, Oregon and Penn State. But, Michigan State re-entered the conversation when they got Williams on campus for an unofficial visit on April 17-18.

Now, the Spartans have as much momentum in Williams' recruitment as any other program. Michigan State linebackers coach and defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton is the primary recruiter for Williams, but head coach Mel Tucker himself is also directly involved in this battle.

Williams already has official visits lined up for UCLA (May 5), Michigan (June 10) and Texas (June 23), and with the likes of Alabama, Miami, Oregon and Penn State involved, this won't be an easy recruiting battle for the Spartans to win. With that said, it's clear that Michigan State has made an impression on the high school junior, and has put itself right in the mix here.
