Michigan State Football Debuting All-New Uniform Combination vs. Rival Wolverines

Look good, feel good, play good!

There are bigger issues heading into this weekend's matchup between in-state rivals Michigan State and Michigan, but there is still a football game to be played on Saturday.

And, in that game, the Spartans will debut a new uniform combination for the first time in program history.

This offseason, Michigan State Football revealed an all-new line of uniforms for the 2023 season and beyond, and the one that drew the most attention and excitement was the all-black "Thy Shadows" uniform. Fans have clamored for an all-black version of the Spartan football uniforms and they finally have it.

Those uniforms will be worn for the first time on Saturday against the Wolverines.

Full disclosure, I'm usually not a fan of programs who don't have black in their normal color scheme utilizing all-black uniforms. With that said, I think Michigan State knocked these out of the park with their look and staying true to a lot of the program's tradition and history.

The Spartans are a 24-point underdog this week against their in-state rivals, which may cause some to question why they would choose this game for a long-awaited debut of these uniforms. However, former Spartan player and current MSU assistant athletic director and NIL special advisor Darien Harris made a good point in addressing those complaints:

Kickoff between Michigan and Michigan State is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET with NBC carrying the broadcast. The game will also be available to be streamed on Peacock.
