LOOK: Michigan State unveils traditional uniform combo vs. Richmond

The Spartans are pulling out a classic look for their Week 2 matchup with the Spiders...

When Michigan State football announced its new Nike Dri-fit uniforms this past July, we were promised a plethora of different combinations for the Spartans this season.

In Week 2's matchup against Richmond, MSU is going with a slight variation to the combo it wore during last week's season-opener. Michigan State's official social media account revealed their uniform choice on Thursday night.

It's another traditional look for Michigan State this week, as they'll go with white helmets with the traditional green Spartan head logo, as well as green jerseys and white pants. MSU wore a green helmet with a white logo against Central Michigan.

I'm not overly surprised by this choice for Michigan State. While it's the first ever meeting with Richmond, this isn't a game which calls for anything special in terms of uniform combos. That being said, this will be the fanbase's first look at the green Greek key stripe on the white helmet.

Michigan State is one of the few programs that manages to pull off multiple combinations while mostly staying true to tradition. We know MSU will debut an all-black alternate for this first time in their history — which will be fun — but I favor the traditional looks. While this one isn't necessarily one of my favorites, this was a good game to go with this combination.
