The Michigan State Spartan Football team sits at 4-3. Coming into a season full of excitement and promise, the team stands on the precipice of watching their season fall into a complete collapse with a loss on Saturday. This game with #7 Penn State (7-0) kicks off at 3:30 PM at Spartan Stadium.

The above video is our weekly State of Michigan State Football segment with Spartan Nation senior writer Jon Schopp.  We go unvarnished with no strings attached on the state of your Spartan Football team.

Dantonio said of the rivalry with Penn State.  They all seem hectic and close.  "Well, they have all been -- pretty much I think they have all been relatively close. I think '15 and '16 were not, even though in both of those games, the game was relatively close at halftime or after, even in '15, and then things happened with turnovers or whatever the case and those games got out of hand a little bit. But prior to that, they have been close games."

He added, "I don't know, I think they enjoy coming and playing in our atmosphere and we enjoy going and playing in theirs, quite frankly. I think our guys got up for it, and we just try and take a positive approach them as I said earlier and we play well against them. Our confidence should be there."
