NEWS AND NOTES FROM BRET BIELEMA'S COMMENTS AT B1G MEDIA DAYS
Bielema followed Ron Zook, and let loose some entertaining quotes for the media in attendance here today. Â Here are the highlights:
ON THE TRADITION AT WISCONSIN:
“People write about history, what I want to concentrate on is the future history of our program.â€
ON WISCONSIN'S IMAGE:
“We aren’t real sexy. I always say we aren’t the first girl you’d take to prom, but we aren’t the last either.â€
ON COLLEGE FOOTBALL'S REPUTATION:
“When I became a head coach some of the older coaches in our profession expressed to me that as a younger coach with the success I was having that I could be a great voice for our profession.â€
“I’d say hammer the guys that aren’t doing it the right way.â€
“If you’re consciously aware of breaking a rule, there’s no excuse for that.â€
"I’m with the kids 2 or 3 hours out of a day, but I tell them, I don’t know what you’re going to be doing at 1am on a Saturday.â€
ON KEEPING PLAYERS GROUNDED:
“So many voices that go into a young man’s head.  Could be mom or dad, or the pretty girl he’s dating or trying to date and they all tell him how good he is.â€
ON HIS RECRUITING STRATEGY WITH REGARD TO CHARACTER:
"I always say that in college football you recruit your own problems"
ON ARGUING WITH HIS FATHER:
“Everybody argues with their dad.  My dad never played the game and he thinks he’s Vince Lombardi."
