If you can’t like Bill Lynch, the head coach at Indiana, then you have personal problems. He is a top-notch human being and a super person. Having said that, he is fortunate to be at a school that clearly doesn’t care about football like they do basketball.

Lynch has been given a lot of rope because he is such a great person and because of how he handled the program after the death of Coach Hoeppner. Hoeppner was a fine man and a perfect fit for IU. Lynch handled the transition like a master with true compassion, humility, and grace. As a friend of Hoeppner, I could NEVER thank Lynch enough for how and what he did.

I looked high and low for more than four wins and they could be there, but I couldn’t in the interest of being fair say any more than this. I sure hope so. This program is a sleeping giant. Go ahead and laugh, but I know several division one head coaches who are proven that want this job. I hope they don’t get it and Lynch has great success. Emphasis on HOPE.
