  • Coach until you die” “Not thinking about it.”
  • “No plan whatsoever for future.”
  • “Injury was a little below the intestines.”
  • “We don’t have that many scholarships available.”
  • On expansion: “I am hoping we look at some teams in the east.”
  • About playing Bama, “We have had some luck down there. I think it is a good game early. I have a young team. We have some growing up to do.”
  • “I am around the players all the time. Horse around with them and have some fun.”
  • I’ve always told people…I want your money, not your two cents.
  • On surpassing Eddie Robinson: I really haven’t thought about it. Some of the African American coaches like Eddie have never gotten the recognition or the financial gain.
  • Besides, when I’m down, if they put 399 or 401 over me, I won’t care…I won’t know! (on the wins record)
  • On succession: I would hope that when they start looking at someone to succeed me, I would hope they talk to me about who the hire, what I thought about them, etc.
