On March 30, Michigan State football coach Jonathan Smith invited 4-star wide receiver Jeff Exinor Jr. from Maryland for an unofficial visit. Exinor has a great build for a young receiver, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 220 pounds. A receiver with a physique like Exinor's would be a massive addition to the Michigan State offense after it lost some veteran players.

Exinor scheduled an official visit for the end of May, and if he decides to bring his talents to Michigan State, it would be a big addition for the Spartans. He has over 20 offers from various Power Five schools, so landing him will be tough.

Some notable schools that have shown interest in Exinor are Penn State, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, USC, and others. Many of these teams were ranked highly this past season, including Michigan, who, of course, won the national championship.

247 Sports has Exinor ranked as the fifth-best player in Maryland and the 211th-best player in the 2025 recruiting class. The Spartans have one upperclassman playing wide receiver this coming season, and the other three are two sophomores and a freshman. Michigan State has such a young receiving core that if Exinor signs with them, he has the potential to get a good target share, whereas other schools may not have use for him until the following seasons, which could be unappealing to him.

To land a 4-star receiver with many other offers, Coach Smith must show his value and commitment to his players and how he cares for them off the field. If anything can persuade Exinor, it could be the family aspect and the culture, not just football.

Players with many offers will look beyond the sport, and the school's location will also play. Showing Exinor how he would fit into the team's scheme will be a big help so that he can see exactly what his role on the team would be and how he can prepare to maximize his efficiency and output for the team to succeed. There is a lot on Smith's plate, and he will be hoping he can land Exinor and other star recruits in the offseason.

The Michigan State Spartan Football Spring Green and White Game (Spartan Showcase) will be held at the High Cathedral of the Spartan Nation, Spartan Stadium, on April 20, 2024, at 2 p.m.
