Tom Izzo, Michigan State Spartan Basketball Guard Transfer Target Tramon Mark in Transfer Portal
With the Michigan State Spartans losing their top guard and forward to graduation, spots must be filled quickly before players start committing everywhere. With the transfer possibility of center Mady Sissoko, there are options in the portal, like Oumar Ballo out of Arizona, who is in the portal that Tom Izzo could target to make a suitable replacement at center.
The big man issue can be solved with one addition, as the Spartans still have Carson Cooper, Xavier Booker, and Jaxon Kohler to play down low. But the guard position is still up in the air. Last season, Jayden Akins and AJ Hoggard entered their name in the NBA draft and removed it later on. With both of them being able to return for another year, they could likely do the same this year but keep their names in the draft pool.
Losing their four best guards in one season would be detrimental, but a player stands out in the transfer portal for Tom Izzo to target. Tramon Mark, a guard out of Arkansas, has entered his name in the transfer portal and would be a perfect addition to this collapsing Spartan team. The Spartans have an outstanding returning sophomore class with Xavier Booker, Coen Carr, and Jeremy Fears Jr. but have an underwhelming 2024 recruiting class with only three commits, two four-stars, and a three-star.
Tramon Mark stands 6-foot-6 and averaged 16.2 points per game which while being 2 PPG behind Tyson Walker, is 3.6 more points per game than Michigan States second highest scorer Malik Hall who is also leaving due to graduation. Mark also averaged 4.3 rebounds per game which after Malik Hall and Mady Sissoko leave Michigan State is only .3 rebounds per game less than Michigan States starting center and Mark is a guard. Mark has tremendous athleticism and height being taller than every returning Spartan guard and even taller than forward Coen Carr. Mark is a veteran player and would bring good experience especially already having deep tournament experience with Houston making it to the final four in 2021.
