EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women’s basketball signee Klarissa Bell of East Lansing High School was named the 2010 Miss Basketball for the state of Michigan, it was announced today by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) and the Detroit Free Press.

 

Bell becomes the seventh Michigan State recruit to earn the prestigious honor and the first since Allyssa DeHaan in 2005.

 

Bell is averaging 21 points and nine rebounds this season and led East Lansing to tomorrow’s Class A quarterfinals. Earlier this season, she broke East Lansing ’s career scoring record and currently has 1,810 points.

 

Bell, who totaled 1,267 points in the voting by the BCAM coaches, was one of three incoming Spartans who finished in the top-four. Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s Annalise Pickrel was second (1,030) and Detroit Country Day’s Madison Williams was fourth (940).
