COLUMBUS, Ind. – The 14th-ranked Michigan State women’s golf team is in 10th place in the NCAA Central Regional with a team score of 310 (+22) following Thursday’s first-round action at Otter Creek Golf Course. The Spartans need to place in the top eight of the three-day event to advance to the NCAA Championships.

 

No. 2 Arizona State leads the 24-team field with a 9-over 297.

 

Junior Aimee Neff paced the Spartans in the first round with a 3-over 75 (38-37), good for 16th place. Neff bogeyed two of her first three holes but bounced back with a birdie on her fourth hole. She finished with just two more bogeys on her final 14 holes.

 

Senior Laura Kueny is tied for 27th after shooting a 77 (38-39), while sophomore Lindsey Solberg is in 39th with a 78 (40-38).

 

Freshman Caroline Powers rounded out the team’s scoring by carding an 80 (40-40).

 

Sophomore Shannon Warner compiled an 82 (40-42).
