Michigan State Basketball: All-Time Leading Scorers

Spartan Nation dives into the most prolific scorers in Michigan State basketball history.

From 1990-1995, Shawn Respert etched his name into Michigan State basketball history and forever created another legend MSU fans can look back on.

He left East Lansing as Michigan State's all-time leading scorer with 2,531 points (a record that still stands today) and the Big Ten's all-time leading scorer in conference games (1,544).

But the kiss he gave at midcourt on his senior day created a Spartan tradition like nonother – one that's lived on since Mateen Cleaves performed the same gesture in 2000.

So, while his name hangs in the Breslin Center's rafters and is spread throughout the MSU record books, Respert will always be remembered for giving life to the fanbase in his final home game.

In four years, he averaged 21.2 points, 2.5 assists, and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 48.3% from the field (45.5% from three-point land).

Former Spartan point guard Kalin Lucas came the closest to passing Greg Kelser, Scott Skiles, Steve Smith, and Respert when he ended his career with 1,996 career points, but big man Paul Davis is the only other player in the top-10 from the 2000s.
