Michigan State Spartans in the NFL: Week 4

Spartan Nation looks at how former Michigan State football players are performing in the NFL.

Each week throughout the NFL regular-season and beyond, former MSU football players play at the highest level.

Here at Spartan Nation, we take a look at how they did in week four.

In this edition of 'Michigan State Spartans in the NFL,' we will look at performances from QB Brian Hoyer, LB Shilique Calhoun, S Khari Willis, QB Kirk Cousins, WR Bennie Fowler, DE William Gholston, OT Jack Conklin, and LS Taybor Pepper.

QB Brian Hoyer: New England Patriots

Brian Hoyer's first start of the 2020 regular-season wasn't pretty, as he finished 15-for-24 for 130 yards and one interception. Hoyer would be benched in favor of Jarrett Stidham in the team's first loss of the year to the Kansas City Chiefs.

LB Shilique Calhoun: New England Patriots

Shilique Calhoun picked up the ball and ran towards the end zone, seemingly about to score a touchdown, but in what looked like a missed call ruled the Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes down. He would finish with a single tackle in the 26-10 Patriots loss.

S Khari Willis: Indianapolis Colts

In a 19-11 Indianapolis Colts victory over the Chicago Bears, Willis recorded three solo tackles to improve his team to 3-1.

QB Kirk Cousins: Minnesota Vikings

Cousins led the Minnesota Vikings to their first win of the year in a 31-23 victory over the Houston Texans. He threw for 260 yards and one touchdown on the backing of 22 pass attempts.

WR Bennie Fowler: New Orleans Saints

Bennie Fowler participated on special teams (again), downing a punt deep in Lions territory in a 35-29 victory over Detroit.

DE William Gholston: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

William Gholston managed to hit the quarterback twice and recorded three tackles in a 38-31 Buccaneers win – improving Tampa Bay to 3-1.

OT Jack Conklin: Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns offensive line had a great game, helping their team rush for 307 yards and giving up two sacks while beating the Dallas Cowboys 49-38.

LS Taybor Pepper: San Francisco 49ers

The former Spartan long snapper made his debut on Sunday following his recent signing with the 49ers. However, his new team fell to the Eagles, 25-20.
