Allie Kubek and Shyanne Sellers scored 15 points apiece and Maryland held the Gophers women’s basketball team scoreless for the final four minutes of the Terrapins’ 72-64 victory on Wednesday night at Williams Arena.

The Terrapins (10-4, 2-1 Big Ten) had three players in all finish in double figures, with Lavender Briggs scoring 13 points to pair with five rebounds. Sellers also had eight assists for Maryland.

The Gophers (11-3, 1-2) led by three after one quarter after knocking down three 3-pointers in the frame, but Maryland outscored Minnesota 25-15 in the second quarter. 

While the Gophers managed to tie the game at 45-45 with 6:54 to go in the third quarter, the Terrapins answered right back and started to pull away. Maryland went up by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter. 

Mara Braun led Minnesota with 20 points, and she also had six rebounds and three assists. Sophie Hart had 13 points and nine rebounds, and Grace Grocholski had 12 points and five boards. Mallory Heyer had 10 rebounds. 

The Gophers return to Big Ten action on Tuesday when they’ll take on Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
