Gophers recruit Isaac Asuma rises into top 100 and joins 3,000-point club
Isaac Asuma became the 11th player in Minnesota history to surpass 3,000 career points, leading the No. 1-ranked Cherry Tigers to a 99-57 win over North Woods on Monday night.
Asuma, a 2024 Golden Gophers commit, is the highest-rated player in Minnesota's 2024 men's basketball recruit. He scored 15 point and reached 3,000 points on a pair of free throws in the first half.
According to the Minnesota State High School League, Asuma is the 11th player to join the 3,000-point club. How high he climbs into the top 10 will depend on how he performs over the final 10 games of the regular season and playoffs.

Asuma was long considered a three-star recruit until recently getting a boost to four-star status by 247Sports, which ranks him No. 98 in the country for the graduating Class of 2024.
The only senior hooper in Minnesota rated higher than Asuma is Creighton-bound Wayzata standout Jackson McAndrew, who is ranked 36th nationally.
