Another Gophers football commit receives offer from USC

Abasiri is a rising recruit from Prior Lake High School.

The University of Southern California has now offered scholarships to two Minnesota high school football standouts who have verbally committed to the Gophers.

Jide Abasiri, a defensive lineman from Prior Lake High School in the southwest Twin Cities metro area, announced that he's received an offer from USC. Abasiri said he spoke with Dave Emerick, the senior associate athletic director for USC football who has a long history of recruiting for programs like USC, Washington State and Arizona.

According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Abasiri is the fourth-ranked recruit in Minnesota in the graduating class of 2024. The top recruit in the state, Esko High School safety Koi Perich, has received offers from the likes of USC and Florida State since committing to Minnesota.

Both Perich and Abasiri remain committed to the Gophers, but, naturally, the more offers they receive the greatest the risk is that flip their commitment.

Minnesota's 2024 recruiting class currently ranked 30th nationally, according to 247Sports. It includes three 4-star recruits and 20 3-star recruits.
