FIU transfer Jordan Guerad changes mind, chooses Louisville over Gophers
Transfer defensive tackle Jordan Guerad has flipped his commitment from the Minnesota Gophers to the Louisville Cardinals after changing his mind after committing to Minnesota last week.
Guerad entered the transfer portal on Dec. 5 after his redshirt freshman season at Florida International, earning first-team All-Conference USA honors with 38 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks for the Panthers.
A three-star recruit out of Valrico, Fla., Guerad committed to the Gophers as a transfer last week over Kansas State, South Carolina and Massachusets before announcing his decision to play for the Cardinals.
Guerad as the latest Gophers defensive commit to change his mind after two high school recruits de-committed from the Gophers last week. Michigan linebacker Brady Pretlaff de-committed from the Gophers on Wednesday after verbally committing last January and Prior Lake defensive lineman Jide Abasiri de-committed from Minnesota and committed to USC on Thursday.
With Gophers defensive coordinator Joe Rossi leaving to take the same position at Michigan State, there could be more changes for P.J. Fleck's defense, which ranked 10th in the Big Ten in total defense with 26.9 points per game allowed last season.
